Engine or ECU remapping on todays ECUs can be carried out by simply updating the software, achieved by downloading then uploading the ‘remapped’ software either through the OBDII diagnostic port, or using a Tri-core programming module for the new series 17 ECU’s, introduced on some vehicle’s from 2010.

When ECU remapping you’re modifying the software in order to achieve better performance, whether it be for more power or better fuel economy, as well as improving emissions.
